who is this for?
Movement and expressive arts practice is for anyone who wants to connect an reconnect with their bodies and their creativity. My goal is to work with those who live in liminal spaces, like holding multiple cultural, racial and other identities, and exploring the gifts and burdens that this can bring to individuals and communities.
i want to support those in our communities who are leaders and caretakers of others, those with visions to create change in our world. I want to support individuals who move mountains of any sizes everyday, from pushing for justice, to policy change, from building full lives while living with chronic illness, to carrying family expectations, and those caring for future generations.
This is a practice for you if you are looking for a space to explore in a creative and playful way how to carry these responsibilities, get in deep connection with your gifts, and build your own self-care and healing path through your body and the arts.
your session
At the beginning of each session we check in about what are your goals and expectations
We start scanning our physical body, to understand where any discomforts or soothing sensations are. Our bodies carry in them many experiences that we may not be conscious about, it holds all our interactions, and places that we have experienced.
Then we explore any natural movement, no matter if they are big or small. We work with our breath, nervous system regulation, locating ourselves in the room, or any other activity that you need to feel settled and present in the space
From there it’s all up to what is needed at the moment, we start working with different modalities of art making using simple and everyday objects. We create drawings, stories, movements, spaces to relax in, anything that will allow for you to explore your goals.
We end our session by reflecting about your experience and building meaning about how to integrate it into your goals for your healing and life you are building.
