Tejidos is a network of healing practitioners working for community care and well being of the Latine employees and service providers at nonprofits, agencies, and other organizations who are at the forefront of community programs, policy changes, and services supporting the most vulnerable members of our own communities.
Many times as Latine workers at these organizations it is challenging to maintain a balance with our value driven visions for change for our communities, and the scale of work that is needed. Not only are they holding space for the communities they serve, but they are part of those communities and are working for their own families and loved ones’ futures.
Our healing practitioners come from a variety of backgrounds and lineages, from psychotherapists, acupuncturists, somatic therapists, herbalists, expressive arts therapists, and more. The majority of them are bicultural and bilingual Latine community members, and all of them are a mycelium network of compassionate, intuitive, and knowledgeable healers weaving the strength for our mutual liberatory future.
The goal is to support Latine leaders to access these restorative and healing practices in a culturally appropriate manner and with the financial and systematic support from their organizations and employers.
How does it work?
Tejidos is not a registered nonprofit or business, but a collective of like-minded healing practitioners gathered in one place, coordinated by Maya Muñoz-Tobón from Mayavita Expressive Arts.
If an organization or employee is interested in offering these supportive healing services to their employees and service providers, you can start a conversation with Maya Muñoz-Tobón to set a system to connect your staff and our network.
There is an administrative flat fee of $20 per person (employee/volunteers/consultants/interns etc.) per year, in addition to the fee for each session and service used by each individual. Each healing practitioner sets their own rate for their services.
So the service will be free for staff, and the employer will cover the cost for accessing these restorative spaces.
